Joke Of The Day:
Thinking On Your Feet...

There was a boy who worked in the produce section of the market. A man came in and asked to buy half a head of lettuce. The boy told him that they only sold whole heads of lettuce, but the man replied that he did not need a whole head, but only a half head. The boy said he would go ask his manager about the matter.

The boy walked into the back room and said, "There's some jerk out there who wants to buy only a half a head of lettuce." As he was finishing saying this he turned around to find the man standing right behind him, so he added, "and this gentleman wants to buy the other half."

The manager okayed the deal and the man went on his way. Later the manager called on the boy and said, "You almost got yourself in a lot of trouble earlier, but I must say I was impressed with the way you got yourself out of it. You think on your feet and we like that around here. Where are you from son?"

The boy replied, "Canada sir."

"Oh really? Why did you leave Canada?" asked the manager. The boy replied, "They're all just whores and hockey players up there."

"Really," replied the manager, "My wife is from Canada!"

The boy replied, "No kidding! What team did she play for?

*Here in the U.S. the Canadians get even by coming down here with pockets stuff full of those 13 cent 'quarters', and jam-up every vending machine in sight with them.

I've never heard of a 13 cent quarter before. Are you sure you got your math right?

I don't know the current exchange rate, but its not a 25 cent quarter, you guys get an instant discount, and we get stuck trying to pass them off on other people... It's just joking around. What ever happened to RUSH?

Hey, if you ask me, i have had a few canadian quarters that i got in pocket change. Just slip them into the change at a gas station, or store, and no body pays attention! :)

Okay, so its more like 22 cents, if I read the chart correctly, must have been thing pesos... Wonder why we don't have that same problem with the northern border as down south?

Ahh, I see you were talking about exchange rates. I thought you were talking about some kind of 13 cent coin. 13 cents is a traditionally a little too low though...especially now.

ahch! exchange rates! The Canadian Dollar is strong right now, and I'm about to loose my shorts when I change my Won to Dollars. :(

I remember when the nut to the north first started all the nuclear mumbo jumbo, investing in some good old US green, and loosing a pile then, because the US Dollar got down, and stayed there.

Right now $1.00 CAD is $1.12 or $1.13 USD

Didn't you people in Florida have some mean retribution on those partial quarter Canadians a few years back? Especially the ones who rented cars? (Does anyone remember this?)

Actually, I think the state is very lax on tourist issues. It's the main source of revenue, so they don't want to rock the boat. We get some real weird ones every once in a while. Once at after eating breakfast I had to wait about 15 minutes to pay my check, and older couple, sounded New York, were arguing over their bill. I was pissed, because it was the sales tax, and only about a dollar. A good 15 minutes! I would have paid it for them had I been listening in from the start.

When i went to Canada, the exchange rate was 1usc = 1.08cc. Or something very close, it might have been 1.06. I thought it was quite reasonable. I think the Canadian dollar should be closer, or even equal to USC.

Now that was a typo, I HOPE. :D

The Canadian Currency has been climbing on U.S. since around 2002. I recall times past, when my Canadian Buck would only buy 60 cents or so.

Something like this should make me glad, however, it is not a good time to transfer funds from Korean Currency to Canadian, and that's my whine right now! :(
I can recall a couple of years ago, when there was 10 cents on the dollar more in exchanging. May of this year was pretty good, but I waited and...

The Canadian economy is growing do to the increase in Drug Dealers. I'm not talking about those crackheads down the street, but the ones that market to the elderly. I've seen $143 for just a 30 day supply of pills, just one prescription. I broke my foot at work about 3 years ago. Two prescriptions, one for pain, one to reduce swelling, almost $80. It was workman's comp., so no big deal, but was kind of shocked. Wish I had loaded up on the painkillers, could have sold them. I've taken any, and live alone so figured it was safer not to, pain wasn't so bad anyway. And the doctors really push the stuff too. Emergency room want to give me a 'to go' bag full of them. The specialist (actually shoved the bottles into my hand on my way out the door), and ever visit want to know if I wanted more.

I have a hunch most of these medications aren't even necessary or effective, but insurance covers a lot. Those without insurance are convinced they need them, and serious getting shafted...

But it is a big deal, honey. We can't all dance free. Somebody has to pay the fiddler.

First time getting injured at work, in my entire life. I've been paying the fiddler. Wasn't even out long enough to collect a second check. They had me back doing "light-duty" in less than 30 days from the injury. I can't imagine how people milk the system for months or years.

I think that most often, it is the honest people who keep getting shafted. It seems to me that the laws are to protect the rich (including huge outfits, like pharmaceuticals, and insurance companies,) and next, the criminals, who know how to navigate the system.
I had a room-mate who was the recipient of a couple of organ transplants. He had to take handfuls of pills every day, just to stay alive. He had a lot to say about pharmaceutical companies, and none of it was nice.

Any of witch forum appropriate? Yes, it is usually it is the good people that get screwed. I think that is how the "If you can't beat them, join them." thing came about. I have a few things to say about that! :)

I work for a US company and make US dollars, but live in Canada. I've been doing this since 1999 and I've been steadily losing money since 2002. Ah, the heady days of the 1.6 exchance rate.

My understanding is that it's not so much the Canadian dollar getting stronger as it is the US dollar is dieing.

So, when the time comes, move to the US, then get a job in Canada! :)
