can someone explain why the fuse doesn't blow here

hi guys,

i was simulating a 0.5A fuse but i can't make it to blow. what am i doing wrong here? thanks in advance.

Because you have the ammeter in parallel with the fuse, which is shorting out the current. The ammeter needs to be in series with the fuse.

The rule is voltmeters connect in parallel, ammeters connect in series.
 
it worked when i changed it to this (attached picture).

a quick follow up. so the 17.973A there is what we call the current being drawn?
