Hi there.
I'm using the BT139 triac and I have a load of 12A. Do I need any heatsink?

Data sheet: from two different places on the data sheet I get the idea there will be about 16 watts lost.
From experiance a TO-220 device will hit the boiling point at 1 to 2 watts. Does that help?

Thanks. That's a big help. By the way, I saw the datasheet too and I got quite an idea about the size of the heatsink.
