Hi,

Does anyone know the the bit rate and bit duration used in different communication system? For example what is the bit rate used for ADSL, GSM mobile communication, satellite system? A computer signal is sent to ADSL modem for example, what is the bit rate and duration of the computer(baseband signal). Are there any standard on this?

Thanks,
Ramesh

once again, google is your friend......

bit rate and bit duration are inversely proportional in any communication system.... but since there are differing modulation schemes and error correction methods, it's not necessarily a direct 1:1 relationship.... some modulation schemes result in up to bit rates of 4 times the bandwidth, but redundancy and error correction usually reduce this to bit rates of 2 or 3 times the bandwidth, or even less than 1 times the bandwidth in some cases.
