Battery recharger

hey, can anyone tell me how to build a circuit that recharges a battery. I know that in a secondary battery we need to regenerate the cathode and anode, but I am unaware of how this can actually occur from the perspective of a circuit diagram.
 
Batteries are all different and each difference affects how they are supposed to be charged.

You didn't say what is the battery's chemistry. It could be lead-acid, Ni-Cad, Ni-MH or Lithium. They all need a different kind of charger circuit.
You didn't say the battery's mA/hours capacity.
You didn't say its voltage.
You didn't say how quickly you need it to charge.

If one of the spec's of your charger doesn't match the battery then the battery could explode or catch on fire.
