BAT81 Alternate for LED switch project

This project is for a mechanical 4 position 4 pole rotary switch where one of the poles will illuminate an number of LEDs based on the switches position.
power supply = 12v 500ma wall wart
Position 0 is static with a RED LED0
Position 1 illuminates LED1
Position 2 illuminates LED1,LED2
Position 3 illuminates LED1,LED2,LED3

*The other poles on the switch control the fans speed and monitor a SWING feature
Im asking if the BAT81 diode can be subbed with a diode i have on hand without degrading the LEDs brightness too much
The barrier diodes I have are BAT85. Will these work in place of the suggested BAT81s?

Thank you.

In your application, the BAT85 is probably the better of the two. though the difference is small.
The BAT81 has a current rating of 30 mA
The BAT85 has a current rating of 200 mA
When operated at the same current, the higher current rated device will usually have a lower forward voltage.
