Does anyone know of a reasonably priced size B printer? I've seen them as low as $1500, but when we can get a color laser printer for $300-$400 it doesn't make much sense to 4 to 5 times the cost on it.

B-size printers are more expensive because there is far less demand for them than A-size printers. And lower demand translates to higher price.

Hi

You can get a multifunction B size inkjet printer these days for about $150-$250.
I bought a new Brother MFC-J5910DW about a year ago for $150. Works great.
HP also sells one for about $199. The laser versions are coming down in price fast..
