Hello!

I've been looking into microcontrollers and want to get started with them. After alot of consideration, I've pretty much choosen to get an Axon (How to Build a Robot Tutorial - Society of Robots) but I have a question before I proceed. Why is it so much less popular than the Arduino? It seems they offer very similar features, it even seems that the axon is slightly superior to it..

Also does anyone here use an Axon or have experience with it?

Hi,

To be honest had never heard of that board before, but as per your question why is it less popular - think that speaks volumes - a good web following and support is essential.

The Arduino, despite its shortfalls is extremely well supported and it also comes in the Mega2560 version which has 54 digital and 16 analogue i/os - surely enough for most projects and seems lower priced at around $65.

Probably distribution. Lots of places sell Arduino. I think the guy who created the SoR site also created (and supports by himself) the Axon. Is the Axon open-source?
