hey guys do anyone know how to get the data from the AT89S51 Microcontroller into a text file.... for example if a speedometer or a temperature sensor is interfaced with the AT89S51 can it some how then that speed or temperature data and store it in a notepad document

Retrieve data from microcontroller through RS232.
Using VB programming would be easy(MSCOMM component), and just save it to a file.

so i have to use one of the port of the microcontroller to connect the RS232. have you or have you seen any one do it because i am not sure how it is done.

You only need to wire the MAX232 and associated circuitry (left bottom of the circuit).
