Hi!
i am building the PicKit2 clone but first need to load the hex file into the PIC18F2550,
so made the Art2003 hardware
but WinPic800 does not recognize the 18F2550 and gives errors while programming the PIC
tried with another new 18F2550 and result is the same
hardware test is OK
anyone please let me know what to do?
Is there any other hardware that can be used to load the hex file into 18F2550?
Thanks !

the Art2003 hardware
Will not work it's a low voltage programer. You can program it with a IDC2 clone which means making two programers

There a programmer that uses a 16f628a to handle loading the hex It is said to be able to program a 18f2550.

Try this one it should work https://www.instructables.com/id/GTP-USB-PIC-PROGRAMMER-Open-Source/

The Parallel Port is 5 volts your programmer is not made to bring Vpp high as is needed to program the 18f2550

hi ! be80be
thanks for your reply
i have gone through the GTP USB programmer but the double sided pcb is a bit too tough for an electronics enthusiast like me to make at home(toner transfer method)

Then your best bet is to find some one to program one for you

Have you looked at this it's a nice pickit2 clone easy to make and you can get a pre programmed 18f2550
pickit2 clone

Where are you located Munny?

There may be someone on the forum close enough to you, willing to program a '2550 at the price of recovering device cost + postage....
