arduino wifi module esp8266

I was wondering if you can use Arduino wifi library (server and client) with esp8266?

The ESP has all the libraries required to do everything server/client related. See here.
My suggestion would be a Wemos mini to get started.

Edit, and you can use the Arduino API.
