alternitives for sensitivity enhancement

i am trying to enhance a signal (speech) by filtering out any unwanted noise.
i have two methods of doing this:
1) using 6 band pass filters with a PIC switching in and out of these filters
2) using 36 four-pole multiple active filters
are there any alternitive methods for radio sensitivity enhancement?

Using a DSP will be a better solution. You can do a lot of processing on audio signals to enhance its quality. Try looking at some cool DSP chips at www.ti.com
