a question relating PIC16F877A

hi there,

i just wanted to know, is it possible to connect a smoke detector remove its sound [buzzer] alarm, and give a input signal to PIC16F877A so tht an output could be showed to an LCD,

not sure so thought to ask the question,

if your talking about a standard household one, you probably want to work back a bit from the buzzer as its used for battery monitoring etc too (at least mines is - a single beep every 10 minutes or so) you should be able to find the signal on the board - DO NOT OPEN the metal enclosure if it has one - as the contents are radioactive and could do damage to you or your family if ingested!!
