Does anyone here know of an 8-bit ADC chip??? I actually mean that it sends that data to an MC in parallel format, not serial.

You could try the ADC0804, there used to be lots of parallel format ADC's, but I can't say I've looked for any recently.

Is there a particular reason you want a parallel one?.

no point now. I was thinking of audio input and conversion to flash memory, with the Atmel or PIC device. Therefore serial data transmission from the ADC to PIC is slower. Parallel is much faster.

not to worry, i've realised that i'm way over my head on this one...
