70’s elevator restoration

Hello everyone, I’m currently tasked with the restoration of an older elevator. Most of the electronics are still in place but I’m missing a few key components. Unfortunately the OEM has long since closed shop so hunting down parts and literature are a bit of a challenge. I’m curious if any of you have experience with home elevators, specifically “Elevette” by “Inclinator co. Of America”. I’ve got some limited experience with low voltage (assoc. electronics engineering) but it’s been a little while. Thanks to everyone for any help!

I have no experience with this kind of stuff, but most relays should be fairly standard. Just get the specifications and pinouts and there should be modern equivalents out there.
One thing that caught my eye is in the wiring panel, bottom left corner, there seems to be a red wire that tried to "leave the box" and appears to be pinched off somehow. This may also be shorting something to ground.

There are a few safety regulations that pertain to elevators, one is a phase reversal prevention relay.
Also any conductor cords that are fixed one end and follow the elevator on the other shall be of the type that has a steel wire tension cord in it.
Also it normally would require an inspection after retro-fit.

Well spotted. I think it is orange rather than red.

I am sure that the red/orange wire ends somewhere, out of the box, forcibly bent by the cover when closed.

There are still new (old stock) Honeywell R850-B contactors available on ebay.

The clear case relays appear to be common octal (or 11 pin?) plug-in types.

The Square D 8965r04 is pricey; this is the cheapest I can find.. (One place wants £2500 for one...)
