Without filtering of the rectified supply this project will produce a light that flickers so badly that it wouldn't be practical to use for general purpose lighting, it would produce harmonic flicker effects with a television scan frequencies as well.
 
The light will flicker at 2x the line frequency (50hz x2 =100) in your case, 60hz x 2 =120 in my case. The old style Fluorescent lamp have 100/120hz flicker (pulses of light).
