I used for my projects PIC 16F877 . Recently I saw that PIC 16F887 is less expensive and has 14 kB of memory. These are the reasons that I decided to switch to 16f887. Is there big difference between these two PICs.

Is there any disadvantage of the 16f887 over 16f877 ?
Do I program 16f887 in the same way like I do in the 16f877 ?
Do I connect Oscillator for 4 Mhz in the same way ?
What is "self-write" ?
