16F723A issue

Does anyone know if the 16F723A can be used with the PICkit 2?
According to this **broken link removed** the PICkit 2 supports the 16F723A.

However when I boot up the PICkit2 App, the device comes up as "Unsupported Part (ID=1B00)", and when I select Manual Device selection, it does not appear in the drop down box.

I actually was using the standalone software as MPLAB doesn't allow me to load the PICkit2 as the programmer when the project uses a 16F723A.

I thought the issue with the standalone software was due to outdated Application and Device File versions as they were indeed out of date.
However after updating them (to 2.61.00 and 1.62.03 respectively) the result did not change.

I find it under manual selection, Midrange/1.8V Min. Not where you would expect it at all, seems like a Microchip goof.

Edit: O.K. I see the data sheet does say its voltage range is 1.8V-5.0V , so not a goof.
