Hi, I'm trying to make my own power supply unit and wantd to know how to have both +ve and -ve outputs from my stepdown transformer, if found this site that seemed to be what i wanted but i don't know if you can get them in the UK or whether it'll actually work (https://hobby_elec.piclist.com/e_ckt19.htm. I'm open to any suggestions on how to make a +ve and -ve power supply unit.

PSU

What you need is a centre tapped tranformer

eg 12 0 12

THe top end of the transofrmer output represents +12
the middle output represents 0v
the bottom ouput represents -12v

You will then need a bridge recetifer and a resovior capacitor
Then use a voltage regulator eg

LM317T, LM7812 etc..

try the following link

**broken link removed**

Hope this helps!
