Do u want this for simulating 4-20mA instruments ????.. which normally operate on 24Vdc, and have 250 ohm resistance ??? if this the case.. i can help u... id u want this for other purpose.. please let us know the details..

thanks guys for your prompt infos, i will be using this to simulate flow and pressure sensors having a 4-20mA output. We do have instruments to do this but i'd rather have one that is handy. Again thank you so much for your support.

Thats it.. i have worked a lot with such instruments..... soon i will be back with sometyhing for u

Here is a simple one.. .. and tested
The 1k pot sets the output current (3.8 to 21 mA).

I like it. Note that 1k resistor should be 1Watt and the 1k pot
should be wirewound. It would be better to use PNP circuit so
that separate power source is only optional instead of required
(just about all electrical cabinets are already equiped with 24VDC
power supply, so you only need pair of aligators).

Yes this may be modified as panic told for use with the 24VDC available in all instrument contol and marshalling cabinets..
