Home Smoke detectors are all Beeping Batteries are not dead.???

I did some research into optical smoke detectors a while ago and some of the control chips have a built in obsolescence feature where they will trigger a warning after a certain length of operation (many years). It could be your smoke detectors have this function and have reached end of life as...

3D printer PSu giving arcing sound

If your power supply has a fan, this could be wearing out and causing noise on startup - probably worth a check.

    100W 0.1Ω resistors

I'll take some off you for some future projects - ping me a PM with the postage price and your details and I'll happily rehome them.

How does the parametric search work on the Microchip website?

Parametric search hasn't worked for me for years :(

What 3D printers are people using?

I personally run an Ender 3 with lots of mods, belt tensioners, direct drive, SKR 1.3 mainboard with TMC drivers, uprated power supply and colour screen as well as a few other mods. I made the mistake of buying an Ion Core Zinter Pro at a fairly reasonable price off eBay thinking I was getting...

What 3D printers are people using?

Bambu Labs P1S all the way. One of our customers has one as his personal printer and they have just bought one for work - awesome quality and you're printing within an hour.

Radiator fan - why four wires instead of two ?

On a car fan I've just been using on a project, one wire was for a PWM signal at 100Hz (ish) for speed control and it had a second for an analog input also to control speed. Not sure on the Nissan ones but you will probably find it has some kind of speed control on it. Are all four wires the...

Isolation monitoring on non-earthed mains systems

We've found older supplies have some leakage through the capacitors which can be picked up as insulation resistance (as well as probably some other paths through to earth through other components (voltage dividers for monitoring and badly wired stuff). Also seen issues with heater and heating...

Isolation monitoring on non-earthed mains systems

Worth a read though the application sheets here : https://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-010232 Above is for DC but it gives you some good insight on how they work.

Isolation monitoring on non-earthed mains systems

Yup, use these extensively at work on both 1000-1200v DC systems and three phase IT systems. Our go to is the Bender iso685 units as we deal a lot with the higher voltages. They do the job but you need to be wary of a few gotchas ... Pure DC with total isolation is one application we use them...

    Car fuel consumption

Best I've managed in mine ...... 2018 Skoda Octavia 1.5 turbo petrol (not hybrid). 150bhp / 250Nm / 0-60 in 8.2 seconds too. This was a round trip to pick up a 100kg cabinet in really warm weather so aircon on as well. Generally I'll get around 55-58mpg on the 20 mile commute in to work (and...

    Part ID ? SMD resistor

Not to worry, I think I've found them (PCNM2512E10R0BST5) - must stop bringing work home with me .....

    Part ID ? SMD resistor

Looking to find replacements for these resistors. They are 10 ohms but that's as far as I can make out - I can't even physically measure them at the moment as they are pretty "embedded" but there is a standard 2.54mm pitch jumper to the left and a 9 pin DSUB for scale. I suspect they are between...

    Is the circuit fried?

Agreed, that looks like it has had moisture ingress and corroded the pins / pcb around the main chip

buzzing noise coming from 3d printer controller when the bed mosfet is on for awhile

Yes but you run the risk of the power mosfet heating up as unless you can drive it hard.
