I am trying to build a gate project to open and close. So far I have most of the stuff I need to build it but I have a couple of obsticals.
Im working on a relay to switch the direction of the motor and a way to stop the gate once its opened so far so it dosent over swing almost like a switch...

Better reword my question. How can I make a simple circuit with say transistors or whatever needed to build my alarm. I have the keypad and siren but what i need is to make a device so that when the door is closed a light shows armed and ready, then when the door is opended, it triggers a open...
One other question, I want to open and close the gate with a remote from a garage door setup. Is there a place that i can buy the sensor and the remote? I am from Vancouver Canada so it might have to be a Canadian store.
I am wondering, is the number of relay 275-288? and not 218? For some reason its a 8 and not a 6 on the motor wiring diagram. But I understand either way. I am not too advanced in electronics so I have to look over your diagram in more detail but what you have given me helps!

Okay simplifying the circuit a bit. I have a siren from a car alarm system that will be triggered when the door is opened with out the right code. What I need to figure out is how to make a circuit so that when a door is opened it knows and triggers on the siren.

thanks buddy, I tried taking a closer look to get a better idea of what you mean but the picture is quite distorted when blown up. Is there any way you could send me a bigger picture? Also there is a total of 6 wires with #5, #8 which switch back and forth. Thanks again!

yeah I was thinking about that saftey factor. Maybe I should have a remote close too, not sure but I am thinking of using a remote garage door like setup so maybe that would be the safer idea. And the pully way sounds better too. Maybe loosen the belts so that it just has enough tourque...

IT WORKS!!! :D I was a little hesitant to try it b/c its high voltage but I got it to work both ways. It has a engine break on it too!! So now I just have to figure out how to make it go from one direction on one timer, break for 30, and go on another direction with a timer. Oh and should...
My plan is to have the gate open on say a 55 timer so it opens and then stops, then a delay for 40 sec or a minute.... then to close so it will have stopped for about 40 to a minute.
So I have to some how figure out how to wire it so that I can make it go one way then wait then go the other...
