    Detectors appear to be AC powered but if electricity goes off it has battery back up. I was surprised to learn with no AC and battery removed the detector continues to functions for several hours. We live in tornado alley we have 3 months of tornadoes and 4 ft of rain every spring.

    Very good idea. I looked above 1 door dust has settled over the door. It is very dry now 80°+ and 30 mph wind every day it is dry and dusty + pollen is 100%. I have a portable air compressor tank and air blower I can bring into the house to blow dust out of the detectors.
