Automotive 6 Volt Generator Transistor Voltage Regulator

Thanks Jim B. March 31 2025 UpDate, Had to replace the 350 Prototype 2 it would intermittently over charge, I removed it and may have fixed it could have been an internal short between the Mosfet Gate and D+. I don't think it blew anything up. for for now it's off the car replaced with a 393i...

Automotive 6 Volt Generator Transistor Voltage Regulator

August 2022 UpDate, The 350e prototype1 updated design on the regulator housing with the 9mm spade lugs has been fine on the car for a year now however the other day I went driving back up in the mountains on some logging roads and was running with the headlights on and climbing in 1st gear for...

Automotive 6 Volt Generator Transistor Voltage Regulator

I think it would be best to stick with the original Auto-LiteThe VRR4005A on the Positive Ground Systems. about $60 on ebay. Perhaps https://cloversystems.designscience.info/products/legacy-products/dr340/ has something.

Automotive 6 Volt Generator Transistor Voltage Regulator

Thanks, I will have to look into the UA723.

Automotive 6 Volt Generator Transistor Voltage Regulator

Interesting the input to the Comparator input configuration in his Fig 2 is Just how I finally arived at as a simple configuration, Some Comparators can't handle it though!

Automotive 6 Volt Generator Transistor Voltage Regulator

Alarm Circuit installed November 2019: The Alarm Circuit has proven it's self and saved overcharging several times with the various failures including the last one caused by a failure of the 6.8 Volt Voltage Reference diode. There have been Zero problems since with anything. It's Been over 2...

Automotive - Radiator and condenser dual fan / two speed controller

This is very true, one thing is when 12 volts is available, Use it on a pull-up resistor to the Gate the cmos open collector ic's etc allow it.

Automotive - Radiator and condenser dual fan / two speed controller

Man there are a lot of these things already invented! Here a nice one: PWM Module from Speedway.

Automotive - Radiator and condenser dual fan / two speed controller

Yep I did volts got to multiply X 35 amps again for watts! I have been thinking mOhms was Power of -6, I should check this. But the FDP025N06 could handle it. Ok Your right so using the FDP025N06 with just 2.6m ohms would be 2.6/1000 = .0026 ohms at 35 amps which would be .091 volts and that X...

Automotive - Radiator and condenser dual fan / two speed controller

It's probably not considered a logic level FET, that is correct. However I have tested it and some others like trench HD FET's etc and 5 volts is plenty to get enough saturation that they won't heat up. For example a fet at 60 milli ohms (Source to Drain) will only generate 35amps X 0.000060...

Automotive - Radiator and condenser dual fan / two speed controller

The BC109 Transistor could drive a 70 ohm relay but maybe can't handle just any kind directly, nor could other CMOS Logic components. When I need a high gain transistor to drive something drawing several amps, I go to the 2N3055(npn) or the 2N2955(pnp) (Total Over Kill Though) also power N...

Automotive - Radiator and condenser dual fan / two speed controller

I think the Auto Parts Stores carry those "Engine Cooling Fan Modules" Depends on the year of the car. Cars in the 80-90's just used a couple of relays and big heat sinked in line resistors to do it. What Year and model of car? I suppose you could design and build one Probably the 5 volt reg...

    Non Contact Voltage Detecting Relay

What Kind of Voltages? AC, DC, 125 VAC 220 or what 5 volts DC? Oh, I see You want to detect 12 volts? What limits? anything over say 11 volts? Mabe get one of the "Auto Car Truck Voltage Circuit Tester 6V/12V/24V DC Hook Probe Test Light Pencil" on ebay.

    Delete Media

Hi, Thanks for the reply, I already uploaded a corrected schematic to my media it's a JPG and I linked it to my Thread no problem I just want to know how to delete the wrong JPG Schematic from my media. One thought is if there is no way to delete media with mistakes I could make a album titled...
