Lazer Tag - System Architecture

Blog entry posted in 'Electronics and Other Ramblings...', June 04, 2012.

To simplify the architecture there will be no sounds; not at first anyways. The system may be subdivided on the following components:
    • IR Receiver
    • IR Transmitter
    • Power Switch
    • Team Selection Switch
    • Battery

Layouts for the IR Receiver and Transmitter were completed using Eagle and ordered through DorkbotPDX / OSH Park service. I’ve used this service now a few times with really good success.

    70230

    Simplified Algorithm:
    Transmitter:
    • Read Team Select Switch
    • Transmit IR Burst when triggered while Receiver has not been tagged
    Receiver:
    • Read Team Select Switch
    • Increase Tag Count for every tag
    • Timeout Transmitter for 5secs when a tag occurs. Hold both Transmitter and Receiver idle when Tag Count reaches 25

    Waiting for PCBs now…

    ;)
