Another PSU from telecom ''tower'', Ericsson

Blog entry posted in 'Uncategorised', June 21, 2013.

Yes, another PSU, probadly getting bored of these PSU posts? well, now i found one that can be useful, it packs nice punch, 48VDC/12A, i measured it with scope and DMM, idle voltage is even about 55v, with virtually no ripple/noise, at least none too big was seen on scope. Otherwise too, this brick is silent as can be. You might notice that handle, i must say that i did install it, easier to carry around. Other modifications i do in is power switch and proper connectors, like banana binding posts. As seen in photos, again, pretty bizarre connectors....This PSu, like the nokia's has bigger fuse, 6.3A slow, clearly for inrush current. In fact, i first tested it with bulb-cord, (see my previous post, couple posts earlier to see device, if you're interested, found in ''lab equipment'' category) it didn't even stay on, relay just clicked about 1hz frequency, as did light bulb, bulb was 60w. I then tested it without it, and inrush current was big enought to briefly dim my work light.

As suspected from size/power ratio, this is another SMPS, which has two PCB's, for insulation/size purposes?. Big transformers, caps and other normal stuff found from SMPS's along with logics and discrete components. There are even two bridge retrifiers, i didn't look much, were they in series or parallel.
Sadly, i didn't savlage all of logic boards from tower, only these seen in photos, which i regret now, but i took the best in my opinion. Smaller SMPS's which are ''fed'' by this bigger one. Smaller ones are mainly same, along with tl494's.
The one seen attached at same case as main unit, is also some kind of PSU, with battery backup/auxilary power. Yes, i got big-gauge wire too along this scavenge :).
