Another little ''gadget''

Blog entry posted in 'Lab equipment', July 13, 2013.

Hey, i made another little gadget, or measurement jig, whatever you want to call it. Idea is simple, it is used to test quickly Q-factor, at least that's what i think, coil ''ringing''. It has 100n capacitor in parallel with coil in test. signal is then fed to 'scope for inspecting. I used test signal from 'scopes calibration pin, but function generator would be better, better frequencies in terms of amplitude and frequency. Connectors are basic BNC for input/output, and test-posts are basic 4mm banana binding posts. It seems to work as intended, toroidal coils ring better than normal coils, and if there is short, ringing is reduced or eliminated totally.

    Tell what you think :)
