Tantalum capacitors

The TV and domestic electronics manufacturers still don't use them though!.

Are perhaps only military grade ones any good?.
Nigel, I think it's mostly a matter of cost. For a given capacitance value and voltage rating tantalums, even for the commercial grade devices, are generally more expensive then aluminum. And obviously commercial electronics are much more sensitive to parts costs then military or space electronics. But there are a number of manufacturers of commercial grade epoxy dipped tantalum caps and I assume they are being used in some commercial electronics somewhere.
