Magnetic theory can get a bit heavy and, before you know where you are, you can be knee deep in multiple variables and constants, all strung together with differential and integral signs.
This article is intended to boil-down the theory into a few simple formula which, hopefully, will give you a feel for electromagnets and allow you to design a simple direct current (DC) bar electromagnet.
