the led that i want to use is: sfh4715as with 1500ma max current. http://www.osram-os.com/osram_os/en/products/product-catalog/infrared-emitters,-detectors-andsensors/infrared-emitters/high-power-emitter-gt500mw/emitters-with-850nm/sfh-4715as/index.jsp?search_result=/osram_os/en/search/advanced_search.jsp?action=dosearch&inp_searchterm_1=sfh+4715as&website_name=osram_os_en

i am locking thiese two drivers:
1- 1520ma: **broken link removed**
2- 1400ma:http://www.fasttech.com/products/16...c7135-2-group-3-5-modes-led-flashlight-driver

I have also before used sfh4715s led with maximum 1A with driver 1050 ma, that was 50 ma overdrive, and it works fine,

I hope that the 20ma overdrive is not to much for this led am i right, what do you all think, or should i go with 1400ma driver, please some advise, thanks.
here is the datasheet of SFH4715AS http://www.osram-os.com/Graphics/XPic4/00168630_0.pdf/SFH 4715AS Lead (Pb) Free Product - RoHS Compliant.pdf

why not choose a recom led driver.
Your oslon led looks good up to 1500ma, as long as you heatsink it right.

The board uses an Atmel MCU and 4 CC LDO's with a drop of 0.14 to 0.2V The CC device is the MCA7530 which comes in two ranks or bins.

the `1st link uses the default 360mA +/-20
your 2nd link for cooler operation is spec'd at 320mA +/-20
Then there are 4x ganged in parallel.

I hope you have a solid low thermal resistance conductor ring for the heat to the flashlight for both LED and board.

There are no exceptions to exceeding the Absolute Maximum currents for a quality design.

Thanks, so as i understand the driver on the 1. link is good for this led, and will drive the led at 100%, but i need a good flashlight host for culling, i am planing to use uniquefire t20 host, i think that is a good housing for cooling.

The flashlight says 1200 Lumens which is at least 10W. What is not clear is what voltage the LED array is using and the purpose of your external driver and choice of battery voltage 2x3V or 1x3.7 or external?
