I have some pneumatic pistons that are electrically actuated through electric solenoids. I have problems using these pneumatic pistons. Is there any piston type that opens and closes electrically without any need to an air source?

A wax motor; dishwashers use them all over the place.

Car door actuators. They're usually push/pull, but short distances (1/2 inch or so), you need to specify the force you require, the distance, if it's push/pull one or the other.
