Hi,

I've got five brand new P8002's from Texas Instruments, but I don't have
any information about them. I did the usual, Googled around a bit (more
than a bit) searched every datasheet site I could find, Googled for some
more... Now I'm back at square one, as if it never existed. Can some one
help me, any information about this dinosaur is highly appreciated.

They may well be 'in house' numbers?, in which case there's no datasheet or information to find - it's common for equipment manufacturers to have their own type number stamped on IC's, this makes it EXTREMELY difficult to find what it is.

Hi Nigel,

I knew this was going to be a difficult one, but I'm sure that's no
"in house" number because there's no commercial equivalent.
I remember picking one up in a second-hand shop in Holland, I bought it
because I knew what it was. A few months later a friend asked me for such
a device, because he was having difficulties obtaining one. So I gave him
mine and I told him that I would order another one for him as a spare,
which I remember doing. Years later I found a bag with five new P8002's.
So there must have been a second order, probably from Ambit.
Meanwhile I've been digging in some old magazines and I found an article
about an amateur UHF TV transmitter using P8000's in it's output stages.
A P8000 in a TO126 package is not a P8002 in a TO202 package, but it
very well could be essentially the same transistor.
Thanks for your reply.
