Say, Microchip always uses the term "Compatible 10-bit ADC".
What does the term "compatible" refer to, anyways?
What's it compatible with??

It probably means software compatible to the 8-bit A/D converters found on some of the older PICs of the PIC16 family.

Can you give us an example of where this term appears? I just checked a few datasheets and it isn't there.

Mike.
