AC power supply is provided to our homes from grid station, but there are many home appliances that are operated by DC.Justify how they will operate while AC main supply is provided but we have needed DC to operate them.

hi,
Depending upon the power rating of the DC devices you will require mains rated rectifiers.
If the DC devices require a voltage that is not equal to the rms value of the rectified AC mains supply
you will also require mains transformers to match the voltage.

If the DC devices have a DC supply terminal connected as ground onto the DC device, again you will require a transformer for isolation.

Is this clear?

Tell us what the devices are and what are the rated DC voltages/currents, also the voltage of the AC mains supply.

"justify how they will operate...."

They will operate because a DC power source is provided by means of an AC-DC converter. Yep, sounds like a school question.;)

Not like a school question :)university level question.

Well there you go! Now, if they ask you to design & test such a converter you'll have a real university question on your hands.

Ah...Not at my university. Don't know about yours.

Why do you find it necessary to ask us to do your homework????

Please don't do that!

Try to think before you post.

Imagine if someone had responded but didn't quote you then their reply wouldn't make sense so they would have wasted their time.

I think you got a sufficient answer to your question. If you would like more information, please ask something more specific.

I trust you're not talking about the ones people who can't walk use to get around? Right?

Yeah, old Thomas A. used to electrocute elephants on stage to demo that AC was more dangerous than (his) DC. People do wierd sh1t when they are chasing the big bucks.
