i have just finished my weekend project (its already long ago)

i use a 555 timer and 4017 chip

I plan the layout then make prototypes neatly on stripboard. Whenever I see the tangle of many wires on a breadboard then I laugh at the mess.

I guess you are lucky that your tangle of wires works as well as it does.

I myself would have gone with just a PIC and leds or bargraph.
THEN have several patterns to choose from.

everything becomes easier with uC but i just want to make this project works

throw several diodes in the mix and the leds will go back and forth

Nice little demo, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your layout...

I have seen and built, much worse than that and they still work....

Not bad at all. How about a circuit diagram so we can duplicate or modify for ourselves.
