sir gibs but my 7 segment display is anode what will i do. and can i use 6V for the Vcc?

hi,
Do you mean your LED is a Common Anode type.??

The 6V for the 74LSxxx is too high, you could add a series diode in the +6V supply line, drop it to about 5.2V.

Have you seen the Blog circuit, it uses a Common Anode LED.??

Tell me the type number of your LED.

CA is Common Anode? :) OMG! sorry sir gibs...

hmmm the 6V is complicated... so what im going to do if i will use Battery??

4.5v is not enough??

hi,
Have you downloaded the circuit diagram shown in my Forum Blog.?????

EDIT:
Look at this image for the diode.

i see your diagram sir and i save it to my computer. but i can use 4.5V for the supply?

sir gibs, it is a 2 minutes up counter?

hi,
I explained yesterday, the 4.5V battery is too low, the datasheet for the LS series states 4.75V minimum.

The counter counts at one count per second so it can count up to 999 seconds if you wanted it to.

What other ic's and components did your teacher give for the project.?

here's the materials..

(3) 7segment display
(2) Light Emitting Diode
(3) 74LS192
(3) 74LS247
(1) LM555
(1)500k potentiometer
(2) toggle switch
(1) push on button
(5m) hook up wires
small Buzzer
(others: Resistors etc...)
(3) AA Battery 1.5v

i don't know on how to construct 2 minutes count up counter.

hi besoy,
With only those ic's and components you can only make a simple counter.

One way to do a 2 minute count would be to make the 555 frequency about 8.3Hz, so that it would take 120 seconds to count from zero 000 to 999.

Can you say exactly what the teachers expects the counter to do.?:)

he says that the function of this count from 0-120 sec. or 2 minutes count up.

and have a reset and pause/play..

Help me sir..

hi,
I am trying to think of a way to help you using only those components.??

What did the teacher say the 2 light emitting diodes and the buzzer are for.??

Did he also say count up.? not count down.

I am asking these questions so I can understand what is in the teacher mind.

i think LED has a function when its turn on.

and buzzer buz if the count reach 2minutes

hi,
I have discussed this with other members and the moment its not clear how you would make an up counter from 000 thru 120 seconds without extra gates or components.

It would possible to have a down counter from 120 to 000 by preloading the counter with 120.

I cannot see why the teacher has given you up/down counters and said you must only count up.

Is it possible you can discuss this with your teacher, I would like to help solve this problem.

he said that after the counter reach 120 sec the buzz beat for 5 sec and stop

hi,
I havnt forgotten you.

Is the buzzer a 5V buzzer suitable for logic.??

so how can i get the exact circuit diagram to solve my problem sir gibs?
would you add some materials? i think my teacher tell us to use the AND gate and INVERTER? is that right?

PLS HELP ME SIR.

hi,
With AND and INVERTERS is EASY!!!, why didnt you say so...:)

I will modify the drawing and repost it later.... OK.?

thank you sir... i already tell you that im poor knowledge in my subject Advance Logic. :)

thank you so much sir gibs..

hi besoy,
Look at the 120 second circuit I have just added to my Forum Blog. [right hand image]

You will require a 74LS08 and a 74LS04 ic.

This should meet the project requirement.

Let me know how you get on.:)
