The motor is working and draws 100 mA but as said the chip draws 48 mA in rest..this is a bit much to let it work on batteries.
disconnecting the motor changes nothing in power consumption at rest.
i don't know how much the chip is allowed to draw in rest.
tried also a second chip and this one...
