Best method for playing sound - Electronic Circuits Projects Diagrams Free

What method do you recommend for playing sounds (example: wav) in a robot / electronic circuit)???

use a pic to play with litle portable mp3 player. connect pics outs to the buttons and "click" them with it. this is as far as i know the easiest and maybe the cheapest but certanly not the only way.
