Heres some more pics. It shows both sides of the aerial board, and the position that the aerial is in when closed and open. The last photo is a closeup of the area under the aerial hinge. I can't see anything on the aerial board that looks like a magnet tho. http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...77f15fbb26.jpg ![]() ![]() ![]()

That looks suspiciously close to that button there.. Check the button with a meter on continuity setting to see if it still works.

the button does work, but it just resets the whole unit, when its in its case the button is protected from accidental pushing and the aerial doesn't touch it, when I took it apart I was expecting to see some kind of micro switch or something but theres nothing there, so it must be a proximity sensor of some kind.

im going to stick my neck out here and say that the 3 legged ic to the upper right of the white push button is going to be your hall sensor. can you get something metal (steel) not stainless though and move it around the black shroud covering the ribbon cable. just to see if there is a maget in there is there anything written on that ic i mentioned?? I can't seem to find a magnet anywhere, I took the black shroud off the aerial board and its just covering the connector for the ribbon cable. I think it says A5XGC on the IC, but I can't be certain. I havn't got a magnitfying glass so I can't get close enough.

Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but I think I've made some slight progress. I turned the sat nav on a few days ago, and the 'gps is off' message had gone, and I can now view the satellite status page, but it doesn't show any satellites. I had a play, but then found that the ribbon cable thats in the black shroud on the cable had come out. So that tells me that the 'switch' to turn the aerial on and off is in the aerial itself. If i knew what wire to cut I may be able to get it working. I just don't fancy guessing at it,lol. I may have to peel the tin foil off the back of the aerial and have a look inside. Gareth
