hi could anyone give some guideliness and important things to consider when designing a GENERIC DEVICE DRIVER.... a generic UART/I2C/SPI/TIMER API that can be used for any hardware... any example of generic hardware device driver...

There are plenty of "generic" driver tasks for the UART/PWM/etc. They rarely do exactly what you need, but beginners find them useful. In any case, I don't see a lot of reason to write NEW "generic" driver tasks.
