Default Developer board for car application

Hi there

I am not entirely new to micro controllers, but it has been a while since I used/progrrammed one.

I am looking for advice on what would be a good development board to use. I would like a board that can do on-board programming. I also need to do the following:

One input (digital) - need to determine frequency of input

Need three outputs:

1. programmable 0-5 V determined by frequency of digital input
2. 0-1 V Sine wave
3. 0-1 V Sine wave

Can anyone offer advice as to which microcontroller (which PIC) and which development board system would best suit my needs? I would like to be up and running quickly! I can design a dedicated board later.

This is for a car application. The input is a tach signal and the outputs are Mass Air flow (0-5V), and Oxygen sensors (0-1V)

Thanks!

Crownhill do a development board, it may be bit overkill for your requirements. I find it a very good system available with/without lcd/graphic displays.

I would suggest you get the futurlec PIC16F877 development board that comes with "built in" programmer and software (works great with win98) for $27.90
You just need to write the programm...compile it and run it!
Check: http://www.futurlec.com/PICDevBoard.html
