| Hey gang Tell me if this sounds odd. When using an ICD2 clone, the device programs and erases much more reliably when a 10K ohm resistor is connected to VSS and the PIC's MCLR pin(Pull-down). However when the PIC is not connected to the ICD2 clone and is running on its own the the 10k ohm resistor needs to be connected to VDD and the PIC's MCLR pin(Pulled-up). Does this seem funny to you also. | |

| Yes, with an ICD2 clone there are three possible states for MCLR: 1) 0V - device in reset. 2) 5V - device running. 3) 13V - device in programming mode. I suspect you have a problem somewhere?. | |

| Thanks for the reply Nigel. I believe I understand what your saying. By the way I started working my way through some of your tutorials(well loosely anyway) using the 16F88. Last edited by GRC; 2nd January 2007 at 01:18 AM. | |
