| Experienced Member | Thank you for the compliment. I suspect it is more work but I was hoping to make the drawings seem more visually interesting and intuitive. Regards, Mike |

| Experienced Member | You should use something like Eagle for the crude start out trace, learning to use it is smarter than learning to place manually yourself. After it's placed it's traces you can tweak them to your hearts content. Doing the whole thing from start to finish on your own is really a waste of time, no matter how good you get at it.

| Experienced Member | Someone uploaded that EPE "Giant LED Message Display" article on EDAboard in this thread; Led Message Display EPE Mag 2006/11 The Author actually did a very nice job coming up with a cohesive comprehensive 'system' for driving 5x7 matrix display modules. The design doesn't include row drivers and can't drive the displays to full brightness and doesn't include PWM brightness/fade control but is nonetheless a reasonably well thought out design. |

| Experienced Member | I learned many things from this site visit this site & look under 5X7 project. http://www.talkingelectronics.com/te...ive_index.html I used a similar technic that I used in my design if you got the correct picture you can scroll any pattern that you like. For that you need to write more coding. The code they provided is only for one way scrolling & its very long in my method I used indirect addressing that will be more difficult to a beginner.

| Experienced Member | All the techniques to drive large displays using special code are great. I have been in this game long enough to learn that years of developing clever schemes ends up almost in vain. Because one day soon, enters any one of the higher-pin count, double to quadruple code size, and peripherals galore cheaper than the older 18-pin devices to come along and disrupt all that "design around limitations" ingenuity.
