Visual BAsic communications with a microcontroller - Electronic Circuits Projects Diagrams Free

Can anyone please teach me how to communicate to a microcontroller particularly with ATMEL89S52 and PIC16F877 using Visual Basic or Java.

Some websites and articles on the web can be useful also so if you happen to know one,kindly refer it to me.

The tutorial at www.rentron.com is a good one.
I got my entire program works within just 2 hours, as I didnt know anything about VB previously.
