I have several surface mount LEDs in 2-PLCC packages but I have never soldered before and I really dont know what I would solder them to if I had. Is there any way I could power these LEDs with a breadboard, a 5v source, a resistor and some jumper wires? I have tried just bending the pads out from the bottom on one and just holding jumper wires to the pads but it doesnt seem to work and I'm not sure if I destroyed the LED or not. Any feedback would be nice, thanks!

Sounds like a reason to learn to solder. Solder a wire to each pad and use them in the breadboard. 3v0
