my mate steve handed me this zn1034 timer circuit last thursday, and asked me to make it for him

Don't quote me on this but it looks like a manual override. Both the output of the timer and the switch are connected to an npn transistor which in turn controls (what I believe to be ) a relay coil with a reverse diode shunt. Ya throw the switch and it applies the pos supply thru a 1K resistor to the transistor base.
