| I just started my first project including relays. I just bought one, (G6A-234P ST-US), but can't make it work.. I connect power to "+" pin, and ground to "-" pin, but swith does not cahnge it state. Pin 4 still connected to pin 6, and pin 13 to 11, as it is when no power is applied. I also tried driving it from 555 and transistor, but nothing happends. Am I doing something wrong?? Thank you. (http://www.angliac.com/omron/datashe...signal/g6a.pdf) (page 7) | |

| Seems like a normal relay to me, should work... Are you sure you connected + and - right? Are you applying enough voltage. According to the datasheet the type you bought is available with coil voltages ranging from 3V up to 48V types... wich one do you have? Also make sure you are applying power to the right pins (1 + / 16 -). The diagram on the datasheet is bottom view. If you get this wrong you're applying power to 8 and 9 - contact pins | |

| It says 5V DC.. I think I didn't confuse pins.. I'll try again but it seems not working.. | |

| Measure the coil resistance, it should be 200 ohms or less.

| googled the part number you provided and one of the hits was on mouser website: http://www.mouser.com/catalog/616/869.pdf It also includes pinouts which is "D4" for this series with terminals "1" and "16" being positive and negative. Coil resistance is listed as well. Your part number is not complete, it's missing DC5, DC12 or DC24 on the end (Omron standard). Make sure you are using right voltage (+/-20% is just fine). To verify if the relay toggles check if you are using proper contacts (4 and 8 is first NO contact). In case coil resistance is ok and your power and polarity are ok, maybe the contacts got welded. What is load you are trying to drive with this relay? (voltage, current, AC/DC, inductive...?) How are trying to drive it? (transistor?) Do you have supperssor diode accross coil? | |
