Default CADSOFT Eagle - Auto numbering ICs

    Hi,

I'm just getting started with Eagle. I've created a symbol / device / package for a PIC16f690. I can't figure out how to make the symbol automatically number itself i.e. IC1, IC2 etc. Mine go; U$1, U$2 etc!

    Any help gratefully appreciated.

When you make the device (combining symbol + pcb footprint) there is a field for "prefix" in the lower right corner. Change this to "IC". It will label all parts as IC1, IC2, etc. You can have any prefix you want (R, C, VREG, MICRO, etc).
