Default reverse breakdown of diode

may i know what is the main breakdown mechanism for diode and may i know how to improve the output voltage regulation performance, is it to minizie the changes in output voltahe to changes in input voltage?

There are two breakdown mechanisms, avalanche and zener, which one are you interested in?

If you want accurate voltage regulation then use a voltage reference rather than a diode.
