| Hello everybody. I am a school student working on his major project. I need to obtain a 500uH (microhenry) coil for my wah-wah pedal project. I can either make or buy one, but i cant find anywhere where i can get a cheap coil. Can anyone spare me some advice? Thanks in advance. | |

| How much current would the inductor handle?

| Pretty well none, it's just used in an audio filter, thin wire on a pot core is what's usually used for them. However, there are kits and bits for them all over the net, it's probably easier to just buy a coil from one of the suppliers. | |

It should only take a few minutes to wind a 500uH coil. Have you looked at that DYI link, use the inductance calculation formulas. Strip down an old mains transformer to get enamelled copper wire and use a pencil as coil former.
